The Internship Details
Pixar's Undergraduate Program (''PUP'') is a classroom-based, 10 week hands-on course taught by a variety of experienced Technical Directors at Pixar. In this program, students will have the opportunity to learn about Pixar's filmmaking process and explore a variety technical career options as they get firsthand experience in how a production studio works.
The classroom curriculum will focus on several technical aspects of filmmaking, such as: modeling, shading, rigging, lighting, simulation, and visual effects. Students will work on projects individually and in small groups to reinforce lecture concepts. Additionally, students will be exposed to production work in greater detail through presentations by a variety of Technical Directors at Pixar.
My first week was mostly a 'get to know you' week packed with rules and guidelines of what I can and cannot do. A lot of the things I've seen, I am not allowed to say. But I'll say that Pixar is doing some amazing things so look forward to their upcoming movies!
ANYWAY
What I mean to tell you is that I'll be mostly MIA from deviantart for the next 10 weeks. If my responses are extraordinarily slow, please know it's because I'm usually dead tired at the end of the day, every day.
This week I'm modeling a collectible ship in Maya, and will need to present the final product in front of a group of Pixar employees. Next week I'll be shading it (basically coloring) to present that as well.
Wish me luck!
